Lutheran Community Services Northwest

At Lutheran Community Services Northwest, we ensure people in the Pacific Northwest have support to meet life’s most difficult challenges and thrive. Throughout Western Washington, we provide support, guidance, and stability for at-risk children and youth, refugees and immigrants, older adults, and people with disabilities. We provide housing and food insecurity support, assist those facing mental health challenges, addiction, violence, or other trauma, and strive to provide health, justice, and hope to the communities we serve. At Lutheran Community Services we offer a variety of free programs and resources aimed at making the lives of our senior population happier and healthier. Dementia Services Social Engagement Activities serves those living with dementia, traumatic brain injuries, and other cognitive challenges, as well as their care partners and loved ones. Free activities include Opening Minds through Art (OMA), Music and Memories, Memory Walks, and Memory Cafés. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides meaningful volunteer opportunities to those 55 and over in Pierce and Kitsap Counties. Santa for Seniors distributes meaningful gifts year-round and provides resources to isolated seniors throughout the Pacific Northwest. The Senior Companion Program partners with organizations in Pierce and Kitsap Counties, where we match trained volunteers with isolated individuals and people with disabilities who need companionship. The Senior Friends program matches volunteers with lonely and socially isolated elders in communities throughout Pierce County. Senior Media Services provides the monthly newspaper, Senior Scene, and the annual resource directory, Where to Turn.

MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers)

MOPS serves moms with children ages birth to kindergarten. We currently meet twice monthly on Thursdays from 6-8pm at Faith Covenant Church in Sumner.
